Why I Love the USA - Lisa - Free to Love My God Openly

Lisa is my sister-in-law. She is creative, has lots of energy, used to sing in the church choir and make posters and artwork for church events, has a warm and welcoming personality that makes people she meets feel immediately comfortable around her, and knows just what to do or say to cheer up those she cares about. When Beeboo, our grandmother, chose to go into long-term care because she was sick, Lisa was the one who could get Beeboo to forget about her pain, smile again, and make us all laugh with her fun-snappy comebacks.

In our family, Lisa is the fun aunt. When I became a mother, Lisa was the first to give my baby daughter ice cream, teach her how to drink out of a straw, and play with loud toys. I knew then that Lisa would make a great mom someday, and I was right. Lisa is now married, has three daughters, and is the kind of mom that can make anything feel fun. 

Besides being a wife and a mother, Lisa is a part-time nurse and an all-time Christian. When I first met her, I realized that God was a source of truth, wisdom, strength, comfort, and love for her, and, in the twenty-five years that I’ve known her, her relationship with God has only gotten stronger.

When I asked Lisa why she loves America, this is what she had to say.

"I love many things about America. It is a beautiful, diverse country with cultures from all over the world. We enjoy so many freedoms that are truly priceless. The freedom I am most grateful for is the freedom of religion. I am free to love my God openly, go to church without fear, and even tell others about Him if they wish to hear. Thank you America for being the land of the free.”
